LCDR Benjamin J. Findlay

EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS ZUMWALT (DDG 1000)

02 April 2024 A native of Naperville, Illinois, LCDR Findlay enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December 2006 where he served six years before receiving his commission in the U.S. Navy as a student naval aviator via Officer Candidate School, Newport, R.I. in August 2013. He is graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics. LCDR Findlay earned a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies as well as Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 from the U.S. Naval War College.

LCDR Findlay is a Full Time Support (FTS) - Surface Warfare Officer. Serving in four ships – USS Stockdale (DDG 106) as Operations Intelligence (OI) Division Officer, USS Sioux City (LCS 11) as Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA) with LCS Crew 106, USS Manchester (LCS 14) as Combat Systems Officer (CSO) with LCS Crew 205, and USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) as Combat Systems Officer (CSO).

He presently serves as Executive Officer in USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000). His decorations include two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, one Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, one Air Force Achievement Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and various personal, unit and service awards.
