A native of Killingly, Conn., Capt. Douglas Meagher is a 1998 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and has served on a frigate, destroyer, cruiser, and multiple littoral combat ships.

At sea, he deployed to Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Fleet in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom and participated in multiple combined exercises and dual-Carrier Strike Group Operations. In command, he has served as Commodore, Surface Division ELEVEN, and as the Commanding Officer of USS Coronado (LCS 4) on its maiden western Pacific deployment and conducted Theater Security Cooperation engagements with several Indo-Pacific partners. His crew aboard Coronado was recognized as the 2017 Battle Efficiency and Unit Tactics Award winner. Meagher previously worked as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS Chancellorsville (CG 62), where he was Ronald Reagan Strike Group’s “Tactician of the Year” in 2008. He completed division officer tours as a Damage Control Assistant and Fire Control Officer in Norfolk, Virginia.

Ashore, Meagher served most recently as the Chief of Operations and Support at the Joint Operations Center, and as Command Center Director, at North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command. Prior to his joint tour, he served as the Force Cyber/C5I Officer (N6) for Commander, Naval Surface Forces, and U.S. Pacific Fleet. During previous shore duty he was assigned to the Navy’s “Global” Title 10 War Game at the Naval War College’s Center for Naval Warfare Studies. Meagher earned a Master of Arts in National Security & Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

He currently serves as the Commodore for Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 1 (COMLCSRON 1) and Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 3 (COMLCSRON 3).

Meagher’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal (three awards) and other personal, unit and campaign awards.
