LCDR David J. Ingel is a native of Los Angeles, California. He enlisted in the Navy on July 11, 2001 and reported to the USNS COMFORT shortly thereafter.

In 2009, he was accepted to Officer Candidate School and Commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer. 
LCDR Ingel’s Division Officer assignments began with MCM CREW LEADER where he served as 
Electrical and Auxiliaries Officer. In July of 2011, he joined USS OKANE as the Fire Control Officer 
and completed two independent BMD 5th Fleet deployments. Upon completion of his tour on USS 
OKANE, LCDR Ingel earned his graduate degree from Naval Post-Graduate School (NPS) in National 
Security Affairs. After graduating from NPS, he earned his IAMD WTI patch, and continued to 
Department Head School in Newport, RI.

LCDR Ingel joined USS MILIUS for his first Department Head tour as the Plans and Tactics Officer 
and fleeted up as the Combat Systems Officer. He then served at CTF-64 as IAMD Planner and 
Formidable Shield 23 Exercise Lead. He now serves as the Executive Officer for USS SHOUP.

LCDR Ingel’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps 
Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as multiple unit and 
service awards.
