A native of Presque Isle, Maine, Cmdr. Beryl Stefanic received his commission at the Maine Maritime Academy through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.
At sea, he served as Engineering Division Officer aboard USS Oak Hill (LSD 51); Training Officer aboard USS Nicholas (FFG 47); Operations Officer aboard USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44); and 1st Lieutenant aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4).
Ashore, he served as a Test Group Director at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. Stefanic deployed to Afghanistan as a member of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Hands program where he was a lead advisor to the Ministry of Interior Inspector’s General Office. He also served at U.S. Central Command, liaising with Coalition Forces for membership in Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve and the International Maritime Security Construct. He also served as a future operations planner at U.S. Special Operations Command.
His current assignment is as Chief Staff Officer for Commander Littoral Combat Ship Squadron Three.
His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, numerous Joint and Navy Commendation Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal and other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
