CDR Bill Golden

COMMANDING OFFICER, USS CANBERRA (LCS 30) BLUE CREW

09 May 2024 Commander Bill Golden is from Freehold, New Jersey and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. He earned his Master of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

His division officer tours were in San Diego, CA aboard USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) as the Electrical Officer and Training Officer, and aboard USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) as the Weapons Officer and Navigator. As a department head he served as the Chief Engineer aboard USS MITSCHER (DDG 57) in Norfolk, VA. He served as the Executive Officer aboard USS ARDENT (MCM 12) in San Diego before commanding USS GLADIATOR (MCM 11) in Bahrain.

Ashore, Commander Golden served as an Instructor of Naval Science at the University of Virginia’s NROTC Unit and the Deputy Director of the Commander’s Action Group for Commander, Naval Surface Force, US Pacific Fleet.
