Senior Chief John A. Lamson, a native of Oakdale, Minnesota, graduated from North St. Paul High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in November 2006. Following completion of basic training, he graduated from Aviation Support Equipment Technician (AS) “A” School in Pensacola, Florida. He then reported to his first assignment at Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA in August 2007 earning his master Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) certification and advanced to Petty Officer Second class.
In September 2009, AS2 Lamson was selected and transferred to the highly coveted Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels). In January 2013, after completing 65 Air Shows across the world he transferred to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU), North Island in San Diego, CA as an instructor earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS) designation and advancing to Petty Officer First class.
In January 2017, AS1 Lamson transferred to USS ESSEX (LHD-2). While aboard the mighty Iron Gator, he deployed two times in support of OPERATION FREEDOM SENTINEL and OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE while also completing Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises in 2020 and 2022. During this tour he was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2019 and Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2022.
ASCS Lamson then reported PCU JOHN L. CANLEY (ESB 6) Gold Crew in September 2022, where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader commissioning the ship and subsequently being selected for the CMDCS program in February 2024.
In May 2024, CMDCS Lamson reported as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of USS MIGUEL KEITH (ESB 5) Blue Crew where he currently serves.
CMDCS Lamson has attended the Senior Enlisted Academy (class 259, Gray), CMC/COB school (class 269) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management.
