Command Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman Billy L. Fuson is a native of Frankfurt, Germany, and hails from Newton, GA. He enlisted in the Navy in June 2004, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. He attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School, Great Lakes, IL, Field Medical Battalion – East Jacksonville, NC, and Independent Duty Corpsman “C” School, San Diego, CA.

His sea assignments include the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), 2D Marine Division, 6TH Marine Regiment, USS Barry (DDG-52), and USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), with combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

His shore assignments include Naval Dental Center Camp Lejeune, NC, and Afloat Training Group San Diego. His shore duty includes combat deployment as an Individual Augmentee with the Army’s 1st and 3rd Infantry Divisions. 

He currently serves as Command Senior Chief of USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32) Crew 229.

He holds an associate degree in Business Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration with a concentration in Emergency Management. He is a Master Training and Afloat Training Specialist. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and various unit awards, campaign and service decorations. He is a distinguished graduate of the Sea Enlisted Academy (253/Brown) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat, Class 270. He is a recipient of the John Henry Balch Award and the 2016 Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year Award.
