Commander Andrew Recame, a native of Clinton, New Jersey, graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and commissioned through the NROTC program in 2007. He holds a Master of Business Administration from North Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
In his initial sea tours, Cmdr. Recame served as Electrical, Auxiliaries, and VBSS Boarding Officer aboard USS HALSEY (DDG 97), and as Weapons Officer at Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron Five (MSRON 5), deploying three times to the Central Command and Indo-Pacific theaters. As a department head, he served as Operations Officer aboard USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) and Commander, Task Force 65, as part of the first Forward Deployed Naval Forces in Europe. He most recently served as Executive Officer of USS OAKLAND (LCS 24) GOLD, where he deployed twice to the Western Pacific conducting numerous presence operations, multi-national exercises, and escort duties for unmanned surface vessels.
Ashore, Cmdr. Recame has held assignments as Naval Science Instructor at North Carolina State NROTC, and as Maritime Warfare Instructor at Surface Warfare Schools Command in Newport, Rhode Island.
Cmdr. Recame assumed command of USS CINCINNATI (LCS 20) in July 2024.
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), the Navy Achievement Medal, and multiple unit, campaign, and service awards.
