Command Master Chief Michael Hackley is a native of Antioch, California. He enlisted in the Navy December 2000 and reported to basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. After graduating, he reported to Fleet Combat Training Center Atlantic, Dam Neck where he attended Operations Specialist “A” School.
In May 2001, he reported for his first duty assignment to USS BOXER (LHD 4) in San Diego, California, completing four Western Pacific Deployments and earning both his surface and aviation warfare qualifications. During his tour, he completed numerous multi-national training exercises and was a participant in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom and advanced the Second Class Petty Officer. In May 2006, he reported to Fleet Area Control Surveillance Facility, San Diego, California for Duty as Maritime Regional Interface Control Officer and Geographical Area Assignment Coordinator and subsequently advanced to First Class Petty Officer.
In April 2009, Master Chief Hackley reported to PRE-COMMISIONING UNIT DEWEY (DDG 105) in Pascagoula, Mississippi and subsequently USS DEWEY (DDG 105) in San Diego, California, and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in September 2010. In October of 2010, he reported to USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD 18), San Diego, California, where he served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and guided the ship through two Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf deployments and numerous certifications. While onboard NEW ORLEANS he advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer and earned his TACTICAL ACTION OFFICER qualification.
In August 2014, he reported to Afloat Training Group, San Diego, California, to serve as a Fleet Trainer and subsequently Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. While attached to
Afloat Training Group he advanced to his current rank of Master Chief Petty Officer in April 2016. In July 2017, he reported to USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) in San Diego, California, serving as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Command Master Chief, where he completed one Fifth Fleet deployment and two Seventh Fleet Deployments. In August 2021, he reported to Undersea Warfighting Development Center, serving as Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Hackley currently serves as USS Cape St George’s Command Master Chief as of July 2024.
Master Chief Hackley is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 181) (Brown) and is a graduate of Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat class 24110.he Boat class 24110.
