Commander Andrew Long is a native of West Linn, OR and graduate of Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, where he commissioned through the Naval ROTC program. He holds a Master of Science in Global Business Leadership from the University of San Diego. 

Commander Long’s operational tours include Electrical Officer and Communications Officer, USS Halsey (DDG 97); Auxiliaries Officer, USS Ingraham (FFG 61); Plans and Tactics Officer and Combat Systems Officer, USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114). 

His first shore assignment was as an Instructor of Naval Science, University of San Diego NROTC. Following his Department Head tours, Long served as a Defense Congressional Fellow for Congresswoman Elaine Luria of Virginia’s Second District, then transitioned to become the Congressional and White House Liaison Director for the Secretary of the Navy. He is also a graduate of the Maritime Staff Officers Course from the Naval War College. 

He has completed four deployments to include operating in the Fifth, Seventh, and Fourth Fleet areas of operation, one of those being deployed with the Destroyer Squadron 23 staff embarked aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). His personal decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals, and two Navy Achievement Medals. 

Commander Long is currently serving as the Executive Officer aboard USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71)
