CDR Marjorie J. Gruber

Executive Officer, Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE (ACB 1)

28 August 2024 Commander Gruber is a native of San Diego, CA. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in December 2006. She received a Masters of Engineering in Construction Project Management from the University of Maryland, College Park in August 2017. 

CDR Gruber’s operational tours include Operations Information, Operations Media, and Main Propulsion 1 Division Officer, 
USS PELELIU (LHA-5); Training and Readiness Officer, 
USS DECATUR (DDG-73); Assistant Bravo Company Commander and Alfa Company Commander, Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE, Coronado, CA. 

CDR Gruber served as Commanding Officer of Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303 in San Diego, CA. During her tour, the UNSTOPPABLE Seabees supported the maintenance of an Expeditionary Medical Facility in Guam during the COVID-19 global pandemic along with multiple exercises and events in support of the 1st and 30th Naval Construction Regiments. In December of 2021, CDR Gruber and her team deployed to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in support of the Red Hill Water Crisis. 

Her shore tours include Assistant Public Works Officer at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren, VA, Construction Manager at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA, Facilities Management Division Director for Public Works at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, and Assistant Operations Officer, SOCOM & CNIC Program Manager at NAVFAC Southwest in San Diego, CA. 

CDR Gruber reported aboard Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE in Coronado, CA in June 2024 serving as the Executive Officer. 

CDR Gruber is a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a member of the Defense Acquisitions Corps, and a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Officer and Surface Warfare Officer. Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards) and other personal, service, and unit awards.
