Command Senior Chief Galang is a native of San Fernando, Pampanga, Philippines. He enlisted in the United States Navy in February 2005 and attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Following his initial training, he attended Storekeeper “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi where he finished top of his class and was advanced to Petty Officer third class under the Accelerated Advancement Program.
Senior Chief Galang was assigned to the “Saberhawks” of HSL-47 at Naval Air Station North Island, CA as his first duty station from June 2005 to March 2010, he served as Material Control Division LPO, Tool Control Coordinator, and Hazardous Material Control and Management Coordinator. He was named 2006 Junior Sailor of the Year and was advanced to Petty Officer second class under the Command Advancement Program. He transitioned HSL-47 to SH-60R and became a plankowner of HSM-77. Following this assignment, Senior Chief Galang reported to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific/ Task Force Seven-Three (COMLOGWESTPAC/ CTF 73) in Singapore, where he made Petty Officer first class. He served as Financial Storekeeper and Logistics Support Specialist from February 2010 to February 2013.
Senior Chief Galang reported to USS. HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN75) in February 2013, he served as the Stock Control Leading Petty Officer, Supply Department LPO/ CCC, Postal Division Officer, and Leading Chief Petty Officer. He completed two deployments onboard in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. During this tour, he was inducted to the Chief Petty Officers’ Mess in 2015.
Senior Chief Galang reported to COMFAIRWESTPAC Aviation Support Detachment (ASD) Iwakuni, Japan on March 2017 as the Leading Chief Petty Officer for Stock Control and Material division. He took the helm as ASD Iwakuni’s Senior Enlisted Leader on April 2018. He is responsible for the development and operation of the newly formed ASD in 40 years in support of Carrier Air Wing FIVE embarked on USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).
In January 2021, he served as the Supply Officer for USS JACKSON (LCS 6) BLUE, where he completed two deployments in the Western Pacific in support of CARAT Thailand and Valiant Shield. He advanced to Senior Chief during this tour. He then went on to serve as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Naval Aviation Maintenance Center for Excellence (NAMCE) in Lemoore, CA from June 2023 to June 2024. He was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program in 2024.
Currently, He’s serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of USS JOHN L. CANLEY (ESB 6) BLUE forward deployed to the Third and Seventh Fleet AOR.
Senior Chief Galang’s awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Air Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Information Dominance Warfare Specialist and service awards.
