Master Chief Larry A. Lynch, a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, reported to Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California in June 1991. Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Radioman class “A” school before reporting to his first sea duty assignment. Due to a rating merger in 1999, he was converted to Information Systems Technician.
He has served in a myriad of sea and shore assignments, including USS
Fort Fisher
(LSD 40), USS
Pearl Harbor
(LSD 52), and USS
Nimitz
(CVN 68). His shore duty assignments include tours at Navy Recruiting District Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri, Navy Marine Corps Intranet Detachment San Diego, and Combined Joint Task Force, Horn of Africa.
Since his selection to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) program in 2008, he had the privilege of serving with Mine Countermeasure Crew Constant, where he served as Command Senior Chief aboard USS
Warrior
(MCM 10), USS
Dextrous
(MCM 13), and USS
Chief
(MCM 14). Following his selection to Master Chief Petty Officer in 2011 he has served as the Command Master Chief aboard USS
Somerset
(LPD 25), where he is a plankowner, USS
Makin Island
(LHD 8), Afloat Training Group San Diego and Afloat Training Group Pacific, and Commander, Carrier Strike Group Three, embarked onboard USS
Abraham Lincoln
(CVN 72).
Recently, he served as the Command Master Chief for Commander, United States SIXTH Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, from April 2022 to October 2023.
Presently, Master Chief Lynch is assigned to Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Force Master Chief.
Master Chief Lynch is a graduate of the U. S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 138/Green), Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 62), and has attended both the Executive Leadership Symposium and the Naval Postgraduate School Navy Senior Leader Seminar. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and service medals.
