CDR Renaldo Hollins is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia and a 2008 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. He was designated a Surface Warfare Officer in May 2008. His first division officer tour was aboard USS NICHOLAS as Main Propulsion Division Officer and Combat Information Center Officer, completing a NATO SNMG deployment and African Partnership Station deployment supporting maritime security operations.
After attending the Damage Control Assistant course of instruction at SWOS Norfolk, he reported to USS BARRY as the Damage Control Assistant completing a 5th/6th Fleet Deployment ISO Operation Odyssey Dawn where USS BARRY launched 55 Tomahawks into Libya.
On shore duty, CDR Hollins attended Naval Postgraduate School and received a Master of Science in Management in Manpower Systems Analysis. Following graduate school, CDR Hollins transferred to ATG San Diego as an Engineering Division Officer and Engineering Assessors Pacific Augment. In December 2015, CDR Hollins reported to SWOS Newport for Department Head Class 237 convening.
In March 2017, He reported to USS CHUNG-HOON as Operations Officer. During this tour, he managed the ship’s schedule through Basic and Advanced phase in preparation for JCSSG 2018 Deployment. In September 2018, he reported to COMDESRON 23 as N3. During this tour, he managed the ship’s schedule and operational readiness of DESRON ships through Basic and Advanced phases in preparation for TRCSG 2020 Deployment. In November 2019, he reported as Military Assistant/Flag Secretary for Commander US Sixth Fleet/Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO. In July 2022, CDR Hollins reported to SWOS Newport for Prospective Executive Officer Class 313 convening. In October 2022, he reported to USS ESSEX as operations Officer. During this tour, he managed the ship’s schedule and battle rhythm through an extensive DSRA. In October 2024, CDR Hollins reported to USS ASHLAND as the Executive Officer
CDR Hollins decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other campaign awards.
