Commander Trager is a native of Sheboygan, WI and graduated from Purdue University in December 2006, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering. He received his commission through the NROTC Program.

 

Afloat, CDR Trager completed his first division officer tour aboard USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91) as the Auxiliaries Officer home-ported in San Diego, CA. He was then assigned as the Training Officer aboard USS PRINCETON (CG 59). He deployed to the Seventh and Fifth Fleet AOR in support of Counter Terrorism and Counter Piracy Operations. His department head tour was aboard USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62) as the Weapons Officer, BW LNO to CTF 70, and Combat Systems Officer, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. He completed several patrols in the South and East China Sea, Sea of Japan and Philippine Sea. After his department head tours had had the privilege of commanding USS TEMPEST (PC 2) forward deployed to Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain performing critical missions in the Arabian Gulf. He most recently served as Executive Officer in USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) in Yokosuka, Japan.

 

Ashore, CDR Trager completed a Personal Exchange Program Tour with the Royal Canadian Navy in Esquimalt, British Columbia. He served as the Weapons Officer at Canadian Forces Fleet School Esquimalt. He was primarily responsible for training the Canadian Fleet on SM-2 and Missile Firing Procedures. He also oversaw the West Coast Fleet’s Combat System Trainer and Tactical Data Link test facility. After completion of this tour, CDR Trager went to Naval Postgraduate School graduating with honors earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Financial Management. Most recently he was assigned to NAVEUR, NAVAF, SIXTHFLT as European Strategy and Policy Officer.

 

CDR Trager is currently billeted as the Deputy Fires Director for U.S. SEVENTH Fleet.

 

CDR Trager’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) as well as multiple unit and service awards.
