Commander Bond is a native of Woodbridge, VA. He received his commission through Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) from Virginia Tech in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He later earned his Master of Public Administrations from Norwich University in 2017.
After commissioning, he served his initial sea duty assignment as Communications Officer in USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) in Norfolk, VA, as the Communications Officer. His other assignments included Weapons Officer in Patrol Coastal Crew HOTEL, stationed in Little Creek, VA, and Operations Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS MITSCHER (DDG 57), stationed in Norfolk, VA. He made several deployments to the Arabian Gulf, and the Mediterranean.
Commander Bond’s shore duty assignments include Training and Standards Officer at Missile Warning Center, Director of Combat Systems at Afloat Training Group in Norfolk, and a PEP Officer with the Royal Navy at the Naval Headquarters in Portsmouth, UK.
His personal awards include the Joint Commendations Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (5), and the Navy Achievement Medal (4) in addition to various unit awards.
