Commander Marvin Joseph is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. He attended Jacksonville University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics. He was commissioned in May 2007 via the Seaman to Admiral Program (STA-21) after completing eleven years of enlisted service as a Gas Turbine Systems Technician (Mechanical). CDR Joseph earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School.
CDR Joseph’s sea duty assignments include tours in USS FARRAGUT (DDG 99) as the First Lieutenant and Main Propulsion Officer, USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36) as the Training Officer, USS DEWEY (DDG 105) as the Chief Engineer, and COMDESRON ONE as the Materiel and Logistics Officer (N4).
Ashore, CDR Joseph served as the Midshipman Summer Cruise Coordinator at Navy Education and Training Command (NETC), Pensacola Florida and Senior Assessor and Operations Officer at Engineering Assessments Pacific (EAP). CDR Joseph recently completed an Executive Officer tour at Beachmaster Unit ONE where he deployed in support of Operation NEPTUNE SOLICE.
LCDR Joseph’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various campaign and service medals and ribbons.
