CDR Ryan P. Kelly

Commanding Officer, USS DANIEL INOUYE (DDG 118)

12 December 2024 Commander Ryan Kelly is a native of Annapolis, Maryland, and received a commission from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in 2007.  He holds an undergraduate degree in Quantitative Economics from USNA and a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

His at sea assignments include:  1st Lieutenant onboard USS HUE CITY (CG 66); Reactor Electrical Division Officer onboard USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77); Plans and Tactics Officer onboard USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52); Reactor Electrical Assistant onboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70); and Executive Officer onboard USS DANIEL INOUYE (DDG 118).

Ashore, he served as a company officer at USNA and as speechwriter for Director, Naval Reactors. 

His decorations include various personal, unit, campaign and service awards.
