LCDR Travis Lair

Executive Officer, USS JACK H. LUCAS (DDG 125)

15 January 2025 A native of Mesa, Arizona, LCDR Travis Lair graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He completed Nuclear Power School in Charleston, South Carolina prior to reporting to USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) in November 2011. He deployed twice on CARL VINSON, serving as the Reactor Electrical Division Officer and earning his Surface Warfare Officer qualification.

In November 2014, LCDR Lair returned to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston as the Enlisted Specialized Instruction Division Director. Following completion of the Surface Warfare Officer Department Head curriculum, he reported to USS SPRUANCE (DDG 111) in January 2019 as the Plans and Tactics Officer, deploying with the JOHN C STENNIS Strike Group. In September 2020, he returned to CARL VINSON as the Main Propulsion Assistant. LCDR Lair most recently served ashore as the Deputy Executive Assistant to Director, Expeditionary Warfare (OPNAV N95) in the Pentagon. He is currently the Executive Officer of USS JACK H LUCAS (DDG 125).

LCDR Lair holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School Great Power Competition certificate program.
