CDR Matthew R. Felton

Executive Officer, USS Wayne E. Meyer (DDG 108)

16 January 2025 CDR Felton is from Helena Montana. He enlisted in the Navy in 2004 and attained the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class prior to earning his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2008.
 

At sea he has served as Combat Information Center Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer in USS REUBEN JAMES (FFG 57), as Naval Gunfire Liaison Officer in 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF), as Battle Captain for Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435 (CJIATF 435) in Kabul, Afghanistan, as Chief Engineer in USS HOPPER (DDG 70) and USS WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108), as N3 for C7F Enforcment Coordination Cell (ECC), as N3 in Destroyer Squadron 31, and as N7 in Carrier Strike group 5/Commander Task Force 70 (CTF 70) embarking in USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76).

Ashore, he served as Operations Officer for Naval Ocean Processing Facility – Whidbey Island (NOPFWI) and he attended the United States Naval War College.

He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology from Montana State University Northern and Master’s degrees in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University, and National Security and Strategic Studies with a concentration on the Asia-Pacific from the United States Naval War College.

His personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (six awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (three awards) and various other unit and campaign awards.
