CDR Eric Burtner-Abt

COMMANDING OFFICER, USS MOBILE (LCS 26)

13 December 2024 Commander Eric Burtner-Abt is a native of Idaho, where he attended the University of Idaho on a Navy ROTC scholarship where he received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and commission in December 2006.

Commander Burtner-Abt most recently completed his tour as Executive Officer of USS MOBILE (LCS 26) Gold Crew in October 2024. His other sea duty assignments include tours on USS MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG 112) as Combat Systems Officer and Weapons Officer, and two tours with Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan on USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) as Navigator, and USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54) as Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer.

Commander Burtner-Abt’s shore assignments include tours at Surface Warfare Schools Command as an instructor in N72, Executive Assistant to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific/CTF-73 in Singapore, and Special Assistant to SACEUR/Commander U.S. European Command in Mons, Belgium.

He assumed command of USS MOBILE (LCS 26) in December 2024.

His personal awards include the Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and service medals and ribbons.
