Captain Anthony Webber is from Houston, Texas. He is a 1999 graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Pre-Medicine and earned a Master’s degree in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the Joint Forces Staff College, Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
Afloat, Captain Webber completed his division officer tours aboard the amphibious landing ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) as the Damage Control Division Officer and then aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) as the Fire Control Officer. Later, he completed his department head tours aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. During his tours, he completed three deployments to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf in support of Standing NATO Maritime Group One, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Commander Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. He commanded USS Dewey (DDG 105) leading the team through two C7F deployments. Following command, he served as Carrier Strike Group One Operations Officer. He then served as deputy and Commodore for “America’s DESRON” Destroyer Squadron 50 in Manama, Bahrain.
Ashore, Captain Webber served as the Training and Manpower Officer for Navy Operation Support Center, Fort Worth, Texas. He later served as a Strategic Operational Planner for the Joint Staff Information Operation Warfare Center and completed one deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He also served as the Warfighting Development Studies lead planner for OPNAV N72 and Executive Assistant to Commander, US Naval Forces Central Command, Fifth Fleet, and Combined Maritime Forces. Captain Webber reported to OPNAV N3N5 on 14 December 2023 as Deputy Director of Plans, Policy, and Integration (N5). He assumed the role of Chief of Staff, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet in February 2025.
Captain Webber’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (with Gold Stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Stars) as well as multiple unit and service awards to include earning the “Battle E” award for excellence on USS DEWEY.
