CAPT Matthew T. Ventimiglia

Commanding Officer, USS Anchorage (LPD 23)

31 January 2025 A native of Gloucester, MA, CAPT Matt “Noodle” Ventimiglia holds a B.S. in Physics from the U. S. Naval Academy and a Master’s in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University. He completed flight training as an E-2C Hawkeye pilot with the “Greyhawks” of VAW-120 in February 2003.

At sea, Ventimiglia most recently served as the Executive Officer of the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), completing two deployments and two maintenance availabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. In his other sea tours, he served with the “Bear Aces” of VAW-124 as a junior officer, the “Sun Kings” of VAW-116 as a department head, and with the “Liberty Bells” of VAW-115 as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer. He also served as the Assistant Navigator onboard the USS Nimitz (CVN 68).

Ashore, CAPT Ventimiglia most recently served in the Office of the Secretary of Defense as the Senior Military Evaluator for CVN 78, E-2D, and MQ-25 for the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation. He also served ashore as an instructor pilot, LSO, and E-2C standardization evaluator with the “Greyhawks” of VAW-120; and at Navy Personnel Command as the E-2, C-2, and VT Jet Placement Officer.

He assumed command of the USS Anchorage (LPD 23) in January 2025.

CAPT Ventimiglia has over 3,000 E-2 hours and has flown the Hawkeye from 11 aircraft carriers. He is a three-time winner of the Navy-Marine Corps Peer Leadership Award. CAPT Ventimiglia is an avid runner and qualified Airline Transport Pilot.
