Commander Daniel Deutsch, a native of Minnesota, earned his commission from Officer Candidate School in Dec, 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota and Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

CDR Deutsch’s most recent assignments was the Director of Training at Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest and as the Operations Officer (N3) for COMDESRON NINE.

CDR Deutsch’s previous sea tours include assignments aboard USS O’KANE (DDG 77) as the Gunnery and Ordnance Officer, USS HOPPER (DDG 70) as the Navigator, and USS LASSEN (DDG 82) as the Weapons Officer, Plans and Tactics Officer, and Senior Watch Officer.

Ashore, he served as Navigation and Seamanship Instructor at the United State Naval Academy instructing over 4,000 Midshipmen in basic and advanced Navigation.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medals, and various unit citations.
