CDR Jacob “Beck” Beckelhymer

A raised in Mukilteo, Washington, CDR Jacob “Beck” Beckelhymer enlisted in the Navy in 2004 before receiving his commission at Officer Candidate School in 2008. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Western Washington University and has Master’s Degrees from The Pennsylvania State University and The Naval War College.

Afloat, after enlisted service in USS Ramage (DDG 61), he served as Electrical Division Officer in USS Boxer (LHD 4), as Navigator in USS Cole (DDG 97), as Weapons and Combat Systems Officer in USS Halsey (DDG 97) and as Operations Officer at Destroyer Squadron Three One. He served as Executive Officer in USS Stockdale (DDG 106) from June 2023 until December 2024.

Ashore CDR Beckelhymer served at Afloat Training Group, Norfolk, as a Surface Warfare Officer Introduction Instructor and at Surface Warfare Officer School Learning Site, Norfolk where he taught the Basic Division Officer's Course. His most recent shore duty assignment was as Director, Basic Division Officer Course, San Diego and the Executive Officer, Mariner Skills Training Center, Pacific.

He assumed command of USS Stockdale (DDG 106) on 7 March 2025.

CDR Beckelhymer is the recipient of various service, unit, and personal awards to which he credits to the fine Sailors with whom he has proudly served.
