CAPT Brent S. Jackson

02 May 2025 A native of Grand Haven, Michigan, Captain Brent Jackson graduated from Kalamazoo College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He received his commission at Officer Candidate School in 2001. He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego. He also is a graduate of the National War College earning a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.

Afloat, Jackson first served aboard USS RUSSELL (DDG 59) as the Strike Officer. His second division officer tour was on USS FORD (FFG 54) serving as the Navigator and NCVBSS Boarding Officer. Jackson completed his department head tours as Operations Officer aboard USS STERETT (DDG 104) and USS CHOSIN (CG 65). Following his second department head tour, he served as the Flag Secretary for Commander, Carrier Strike Group ONE. Jackson then served as Executive Officer of USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53). In his most recent sea tour, Captain Jackson served as the Commanding Officer of USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93).

Ashore, Jackson served as the Cruise Missile Division Officer (N816) at Afloat Training Group San Diego, serving as the certifying CMTQ Officer for ATGPAC. He executed an Individual Augment while deployed to USCENTCOM FWD in Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, in support of Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM, serving as Port and Harbor Security Officer. From 2014-2015, he served as the Executive Assistant to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. FIFTH Fleet. His next shore tour was as Maritime Operations Center Deputy Director at U.S. THIRD Fleet. Captain Jackson then served as the Director, Mine Warfare Requirements, Experimentation, and Doctrine (N8/9) at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC), Mine Warfare Division. Jackson most recently served as the Division Chief of Joint Operations Division - Central Command (JODCENT), part of the J3 Directorate, (J35), on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
