CDR Timothy J. DeVall

Commanding Officer, USS Pinckney (DDG 91)

02 May 2025 A native of Albion, MI, Commander Timothy. J. DeVall commissioned from Officer Candidate School in December of 2007. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship. 

Afloat, CDR DeVall completed division officer tours aboard USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36) as the 1st Lieutenant and legal officer, then aboard USS PRINCETON (CG-59) as the MPA. He completed tours as Chief Engineer aboard USS FARRAGUT (DDG-99) and USS SAN JACINTO (CG-56). His deployments include two counter-narcotic operations to the eastern pacific and an anti-piracy deployment to Africa.

Ashore, CDR DeVall served as the branch head of Navy Absentee Collection and Information Center (NACIC) supporting the Navy’s mission to find and return deserters. His next tour was as Military Deputy for N74 and Gas Turbine Lead at Surface Warfare Officers School. His most recent shore tour was at U.S. Northern Command J553, Defense Support of Civil Authorities, as lead planner for national disaster response. 

CDR DeVall completed his XO tour onboard USS PINCKNEY and executed fleet-up to take command in May 2025. His personal awards include 1 Defense Meritorious Service Medal, 4 Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, 1 Joint Service Achievement medal, 3 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various other awards and recognitions.
