Commander Samuel Bryant is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and is a 2008 graduate of Morehouse College with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
Commander Bryant has served in a diverse range of sea and shore assignments. As a surface warfare officer, his service at sea includes Division Officer Tours on USS Greenbay (LPD 20), Main Propulsion Officer, and Main Propulsion Assistant/Damage Control Assistant on USS Independence (LCS 2). As a Department Head he served as Chief Engineer onboard USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49). He most recently served as the Damage Control Assistant on USS Carl Vinson. He has made multiple deployments to the Middle East, and Western Pacific.
Commander Bryant’s shore tours include Training Officer at Special Boat Team 12 (SBT 12) and N4 at Destroyer Squadron Twenty-one (CDS 21).
His awards include Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy Achievement Medal (3), and various unit, service and campaign awards.
