CDR Ryan P. Campbell

Executive Officer, USS Hopper (DDG 70)

30 April 2025 CDR Campbell graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and received his commission via Naval ROTC in May 2009.  At sea he served as Ordnance Officer in USS MCFAUL (DDG 74) from June 2009 to August 2011, as Damage Control Assistant in USS MASON (DDG 87) from October 2011 to June 2013, as Weapons Officer in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) from April 2018 to June 2019, as Plans and Tactics Officer in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) from July 2019 to January 2021, and as Operations Officer for Destroyer Squadron SEVEN in Singapore from May 2021 to July 2024.

Ashore CDR Campbell served as Port Security/Harbor Defense Officer for U.S. Central Command Joint Security Office (Forward) at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar from August 2013 to July 2014.  He then served as Department Head and lead instructor for Damage Control Assistant Senior Enlisted (DCASE) West at Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) Learning Site San Diego from August 2014 to December 2016.

CDR Campbell holds a Master of Arts degree in Defense Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He is authorized to wear a variety of personal, campaign, and unit awards.
