CDR Brittany Kaluscak is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a Bachelors of Arts in History.

Her first ship was USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58) where she served as First Lieutenant and Communications Officer. For her second division officer tour, she decommissioned USS McINERNEY (FFG 8) as Operations Officer, Navigator, and Training Officer.

Ashore, CDR Kaluscak was stationed at the Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management (DISAM) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she taught Security Cooperation and Security Assistance. During her time at DISAM, she completed her Master’s of Business Administration at Wright State University and completed Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I through Navy War College distance learning.

After completing Department Head School, she served as Operations Officer aboard USS JOHN S McCAIN (DDG 56) and Operations Officer/Plans and Tactics Officer aboard USS ANTIETEM (CG 54). 

Upon completion of her Department Tours, she was Operations Officer at Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD). Following that tour, she went to PERS-41 as the CRUDES Placement Officer and then the Junior Officer Shore Coordinator. She was Executive Officer of USS O’KANE (DDG 77) from August 2023 to March 2025.

She assumed command of USS O’KANE (DDG 77) on 25 April 2025.

Her decorations include a Meritorious Service Medal, a Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medals (five awards), a Joint Achievement Medal, a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service medals and ribbons.
