RDML Brent DeVore

Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3 (ESG 3)

18 June 2025 A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Rear Adm. Brent DeVore graduated in 1995 from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education and earned his commission through the NROTC program. He earned masters’ degrees from Georgetown University in 2002 and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2006. 

At sea he served as the anti-submarine warfare officer aboard USS Taylor (FFG 50), fire control officer aboard USS Carney (DDG 64), operations officer aboard USS Mahan (DDG 72), commanding officer of Patrol Coastal Crew Foxtrot while embarked aboard USS Typhoon (PC 5) and USS Hurricane (PC 3), executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS Stethem (DDG 63), and executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS New York (LPD 21).

Shore-duty assignments include two tours in the Surface Distribution Division of the Bureau of Naval Personnel; executive assistant to the director, Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems Directorate (J-6); U.S. Joint Forces Command, in Norfolk, Virginia; deputy for Operations Maintenance and Modernization for the Director, Surface Warfare (N-96) of the OPNAV Staff; and chief of staff for Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific. 

DeVore’s flag officer assignments include tours as deputy, Commander Multinational Task Force in support of Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Central Command; and Commander, Joint Region Marianas / Commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Marianas. 

His current assignment is as Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Three. 

His decorations include various campaign, unit and personal awards.
