CAPT John P. Baggett

COMMODORE, AMPHIBIOUS SQUADRON ELEVEN (CPR 11)

15 June 2025 Commodore John Baggett, a native of Harrison, New Jersey, graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and received his commission in the United States Navy through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program in 2001. He holds a Master of Science degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. 

At sea, Commodore Baggett served as Strike Officer and Damage Control Assistant in USS HUE CITY (CG 66), Navigator in USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62), and Chief Engineer in USS BOONE (FFG 28). He also served as Executive Officer in USS RUSSELL (DDG 58). He commanded Patrol Coastal Crew JULIET in both USS WHIRLWIND (PC 11) and USS SHAMAL (PC 13),  deploying multiple times to FIFTH Fleet.  Commodore Baggett also had the honor of serving alongside the men and women of USS PREBLE (DDG 88) both as Executive Officer, and as Commanding Officer.  CDRE Baggett most recently served as Deputy Commodore for DESTROYER SQUADRON SEVEN, in Singapore, prior to assuming command of Amphibious Squadron Eleven. 

Ashore assignments include service as the Surface Warfare Programming Analyst, Chief of Naval Operations Staff, Programming Division (N80); Operations Officer, Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific; Current Operations Director for Commander Naval Forces Europe and Africa and Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations for Commander SIXTH Fleet.  

Commodore Baggett assumed command of Amphibious Squadron ELEVEN in June 2025.
