CDR Ludwig Mann III

Commanding Officer, USS Kansas City (LCS 22)

12 June 2025 CDR Mann is a New Jersey native who enlisted in March of 1997 as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate aboard Submarine NR-1 and USS ANNAPOLIS (SSN 760). In 2005, he earned his commission through the Seaman to Admiral-21 program. His division officer tours were completed aboard USS Halsey (DDG 97) and USS Doyle (FFG 39). He served as Chief Engineer aboard USS Shoup (DDG 86) and USS Montgomery (LCS 8), followed by Executive Officer tours aboard USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS Port Royal (CG 73).  CDR Mann served as Commanding Officer of USS Kingsville (LCS 36) and is now in command of USS Kansas City (LCS 22).

Ashore, Commander Mann was an ambassador’s aide at US SOUTHERN COMMAND and led Littoral Combat Ship engineering training as Officer in Charge at SWOS Learning Site, San Diego.

CDR Mann earned numerous individual awards and is most proud of being a part of multiple commands that earned the Battle Efficiency Award.
