Senior Chief Petty Officer Eckert is a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He enlisted in the Navy in January 2010 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
He graduated Cryptologic Technician Technical ‘A’ school in Pensacola, Florida in October 2010. He holds three warfare designations, which include: Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS), Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS), and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS).
CMDCS Eckert served at sea onboard USS OKANE (DDG 77), Pearl Harbor HI, completing two deployments to 5th Fleet in support of ballistic missile defense. On USS Portland (LPD 27), San Diego, CA, he was part of the commissioning crew and a plank owner. On USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) San Diego, CA completing a 10 month deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet AOR.
On shore, he served at Personnel Exchange Program in Ottawa, Canada providing indications and warnings for U.S. Northern Command while developing training to support increased intelligence capabilities with our closest allies to the North. At Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, he served as the Counter Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Supervisor and Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the installation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA Class 252, Red) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB 25010). His awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
