CMDCM(SW/AW/IW) Michael L. Chadwell

Command Master Chief, USS Tripoli (LHA 7)

24 July 2025  Master Chief Chadwell, a native of Hawthorne, Nevada reported to RTC Great Lakes, Illinois in January 2001 and began his career as an Intelligence Specialist. 

His assignments include duty with Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, USS JOHN C STENNIS (CVN 74), and selection to Naval Special Warfare Development Group where he supported Joint Task Forces in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. He later served as the Intelligence Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at U.S. SIXTH Fleet and USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). 

He was selected to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program in 2015 and has served as Command Master Chief of USS DETROIT (LCS 7), USS VICKSBURG (CG 69), Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa, and U.S. SEVENTH Fleet Staff. He is currently serving as the Command Master Chief aboard USS TRIPOLI (LHA 7). 

Master Chief Chadwell is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 170/Blue), CMC/COB course, and Advanced CMC course. He has earned his Surface Warfare, Information Warfare, Aviation Warfare, Expeditionary Warfare, and Naval Parachutist designation. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from American Military University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. 

His decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
