CDR Lauren J. Ellison

Executive Officer, USS Germantown (LSD 42)

29 August 2025 Commander Lauren Ellison is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi. He was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer through the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) at FAMU in May 2009.

Afloat, Commander Ellison completed his division officer tours aboard USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8) as the Auxiliaries Officer and then aboard USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) as the Damage Control Assistant. Later, he completed his department head tours as N4 for Amphibious Squadron THREE (COMPHIBRON 3) embarked aboard USS AMERICA (LHA 6), aboard USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) as the First Lieutenant, and aboard USS BOXER (LHD 4) as the Navigator. During his afloat tours, he completed four deployments to the Fifth and Seventh Fleet areas of responsibility.  

Ashore, Commander Ellison served as the Operations Officer and Freshmen Advisor at the University of Mississippi NROTC Unit in Oxford, Mississippi.  He later served as the Current Operations Director at Expeditionary Strike Group THREE (ESG 3) in San Diego, California. He most recently served as a Fleet Implementation Action Officer at OPNAV N9 Special Programs.

Commander Ellison’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with a Silver Star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with Gold Stars) as well as multiple unit and service awards.
