Command Senior Chief, USS Pioneer (MCM 9)

01 June 2025 Command Senior Chief Gomez, a native of New York City, enlisted in the United States Navy in January 2008. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes he reported to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes where he completed Quartermaster “A” school. 

Upon graduation of Quartermaster “A” school, he reported for his initial duty assignment onboard USS Essex (LHD 2), Sasebo, Japan. Following completion of his initial tour in Sasebo, Japan, he served onboard the USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) Yokosuka, Japan, USS Barry (DDG 52), and USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), all forward deployed units based out of Yokosuka, Japan. Additionally, Command Senior Chief Gomez completed a shore assignment with Destroyer Squadron Fifteen (DESRON 15) located in Yokosuka, Japan. He was the Senior Enlisted Leader for (DESRON-15) embarked staff onboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during their 2022 fall patrol. 

He was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2025 and will serve his initial command tour as the Command Senior Chief (CMDCS), onboard the USS PIONEER (MCM 9); forward-deployed out of Sasebo, Japan. 

Command Senior Chief Gomez holds an Associate degree in General Studies. Additionally, Senior Chief Gomez is a distinguished graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 252. He has earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare, and Aviation Warfare designations. He has also received a Presidential Volunteer Service Medal and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. 

He has multiple individual, unit, and campaign decorations and awards. However, he is most proud of the numerous Battle Efficiency and Retention Excellence awards his units have earned, in addition to warfare pennants his crews have achieved.
