A Native of Annapolis, MD, Art MacAdams was commissioned in 2003 upon graduating from the United States Naval Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics.

His first sea assignment was onboard USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) where he served as Strike Officer and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, deploying to the Northern Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then served as Main Propulsion Assistant onboard USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) where he deployed to the Arabian Gulf two.

Following active duty, Mr. MacAdams joined the Combat System Certification Team at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren where he established the certification program for Independence-variant littoral combat ships (LCS). Later, he became the first Operations Engineer for Independence-variant LCS, guiding combat system design, establishing operational guidance, and training crews on the brand-new Navy system.

Following delivery of USS Independence (LCS 2) and initial East Coast Developmental Testing (DT), he took on the role as the first PMS 501 LCS Mission Systems Production Test Manager. He established the framework for government oversight and industry execution of Factory Acceptance Testing, Production Stage Testing, and Acceptance Trials.

Following USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) Acceptance Trials, Art led the USS Coronado (LCS 4) completion effort to rapidly and significantly address identified shortfalls through combat system re-design. Upon delivery of USS Coronado, he became the first Independence-variant LCS Test Director, leading the Developmental Test and Integrated Test for PMS 501 and NSWC Port Hueneme (PHD).

Mr. MacAdams then became the first NSWC PHD Independence System Engineer, establishing early Combat System support for the fleet. In that role, he continued as Test Director and established the current Combat System Ship Qualification Test (CSSQT) Program. Most recently, he served as PEO IWS 80 Representative for Post Delivery. There he led CSSQT and Final Contract Trials (FCT) completion as well as continued Developmental Testing, driving closed loop engineer practices throughout the Government/Industry Team.

He currently serves as the Executive Director for Littoral Combat Ship Squadron ONE.
