A 2001 graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Captain Wayne Gehman was commissioned through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.
At sea, he served as anti-submarine warfare officer, force protection officer, and electrical officer aboard USS Underwood (FFG 36); operations officer aboard USS Germantown (LSD 42); operations officer aboard USS Fort Worth (LCS 3); and executive and commanding officer of USS Montgomery (LCS 8) Gold Crew and USS Kansas City (LCS 22).
Ashore, he served as an instructor, training division officer, and as the full mission bridge tactical simulator manager, Surface Warfare Officers Schools Command; director of operations and plans (N3) at Commander, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron (LCSRON) ONE; LCS mission package requirements branch head in the Surface Warfare Directorate of the Chief of Naval Operations Staff (N96); Director of the Commander’s Action Group (CAG) and Director of Task Force LCS for Commander, Naval Surface Forces.
Gehman earned a master’s degree in international relations and homeland security from Salve Regina University and completed his Joint Professional Military Education through the Air Command and Staff College.
His awards and decorations include the legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), as well as other unit and service awards.
