CDR Michael Hughes

PAST EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS BENFOLD (DDG 65)

12 October 2021 A native North Carolinian, who earned his degree from North Carolina State University and commissioned in 2006. CDR Hughes began his career as a plank owner in USS STERETT (DDG 104), as the Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer.

Follow-on sea tours included duty as the training officer for Riverine Squadron One (RIVRON ONE) in Little Creek, VA, department head tours as Chief Engineer on USS PAUL HAMILTON (DDG 60) and USS CHOSIN (CG 65) and Future Operations Officer (N5) at Destroyer Squadron 31, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Ashore, he earned a Masters Degree in National Security Affairs, Western Hemisphere from the Naval Postgraduate School. 

Most recently, he served as Executive Assistant to Commander Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific (MIDPAC) and Commander Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH).
