Command Master Chief James R. Kuroski enlisted in the Navy in April 1995. He is a native of Bridgewater, CT .
His training includes Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL, Journeyman Instructor Training, Great Lakes, IL, Recruit Division Commander “C” School, Great Lakes, IL, Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 167 (KHAKI), and CMC/COB Class # A-570-4500.
His sea duty assignments include USS ENTERPRISE CVN 65, Norfolk, VA, USS AUSTIN LPD 4, Norfolk, VA, USS KAUFFMAN FFG 59, Norfolk, VA, USS RONALD REAGAN CVN 76, San Diego, CA, USS GEORGE WASHINGTON CVN 73, Norfolk, VA, USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT, CVN 71, San Diego, CA, USS CINCINNATI LCS 20, Pre-COM and USS OAKLAND LCS 24 Pre-COMM. He completed seven shipboard deployments to FOURTH, FIFTH and SIXTH FLEETS, two FDNF – E Patrols, and one Humanitarian Aid to Haiti.
His shore tours include USS CONSTITUTION, Boston, MA and the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD, where he served as 13th Company Senior Enlisted Leader and also taught Basic Seamanship and Navigation in Luce Hall.
In February, 2017, Master Chief Kuroski was selected to the Command Senior Chief program. In March 2017, he reported for duty as the Command Senior Chief for USS CINNCINNATI, (Blue), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS 20) CREW 205, San Diego, CA. In August of 2017 he was promoted to Command Master Chief.
His next Command Master Chief tour was USS ROOSEVELT DDG 80, from APR 2019 to NOV 2021. ROOSEVELT executed a Home Port Shift to FDNF-E, Rota Spain, in 2020. He was selected as Destroyer Squadron 21 Command Master Chief in AUG of 2021 and assumed the duties as Command Master Chief in November of 2021.
Master Chief Kuroski is a graduate of Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 167 (KHAKI), and CMC/COB Course # A-570-4500.
His personal awards include the 2008 George Sirian Meritorious Leadership Award, Navy Commendation Medal, (six awards), Navy Achievement Medal, (three awards), and numerous unit citations.
