Capt. Greg Baker, commodore of Amphibious Squadron (PHIBRON) 11, left, presents a relic from USS Arizona (BB 39) to Capt. Ken Ward, commanding officer of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). The goal of the Naval History and Heritage Command’s USS Arizona Superstructure Relic Program is to establish and deepen connections between the Sailors of today to those of our past while safeguarding and commemorating the remaining relic materials of USS Arizona. PHIBRON 11, along with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, are operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
