Repair work was successfully conducted with safety restrictions and mitigations in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 while ensuring Lake Erie could successfully return to sea.

The completion of SRA 21 will allow Lake Erie, as part of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) Nine to provide support and security within the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet area of operations and uphold maritime interests of its allies to prevent conflict and provide a forward presence in the Indo-Pacific region.

Lake Erie is the 24th guided missile cruiser equipped with the AEGIS weapons system and is the eighth Ticonderoga-class cruiser built by Bath Iron Works. Lake Erie was launched July 13, 1991 and commissioned July 24, 1993, and is homeported in San Diego.
