Congratulations to OS2 Jamal Meekins for being nominated as the USS THEODOREROOSEVELT's Rough Rider of the Day on 21 February 2024. OS2 Meekins has been supporting CSG-9's mission onboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT since 06 February 2024. The Rough Rider award is the aircraft carrier's proud tradition named after the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry led by Lieutenant Colonel Roosevelt during the Battle of San Juan Hill. As the Rough Rider of the Day, Meekins spent time in the Pilot House with the Commanding Officer where he was able to steer the ship and earn his name into the Ship's Logbook. USS LAKE ERIE would like to thank OS2 Meekins for his continued support onboard the strike group's aircraft carrier. Don't give up the ship!
