Balikatan is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades shared experiences. Balikatan, Tagalog for 'shoulder-to-shoulder,' is a longstanding bilateral exercise between the Philippines and the United States highlighting the deep-rooted partnership between both countries. Balikatan 22 is the 37th iteration of the exercise and coincides with the 75th anniversary of U.S.-Philippine security cooperation.

Navy's Flight III Destroyer Brings Significant Combatant Capabilities

251112-N-EV253-1053 SAN DIEGO, Ca. (Nov. 12, 2025) - The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125) transits San Diego Bay Nov. 12. Jack H. Lucas is the first Flight III warship in the U.S. Navy, marking a significant evolution in surface force combatant capabilities. The mission of Commander, Naval Surface Force, Pacific Fleet is to man, train, and equip the Surface Force to provide fleet commanders with credible naval power to control the sea and project power ashore.
