A native of Kent Island, Maryland, CDR Adam “RomCom” Cohee received his commission from the NROTC program at the University of Florida in 2010 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was designated a Naval Aviator in June 2012 after completing flight training in Pensacola, FL. CDR Cohee completed operational tours with the Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 73 ‘BattleCats’ in San Diego, CA, and the HSM-37 ‘Easy Riders’ in Kaneohe Bay, HI. His at-sea experience has taken him to 3rd, 5th, and 7th fleets. He has deployed as the Aviation Department Head (Airboss) on USS Halsey (DDG 97) and has deployed on USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), USS Gridley (DDG 101), USS Sampson (DDG 102), USS Chung Hoon (DDG 93), and USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110). His deployment experience includes defending the Carrier Strike Group in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Oceania Maritime Security Initiative, and the 2021 troop withdrawal to end the war in Afghanistan. As a Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor pilot with the HSM Weapons School Pacific ‘Honey Badgers’ in San Diego, CA, he served as the HSM Wing Pacific Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) program manager. In this role he organized multiple international live-submarine exercises, and worked with industry and the Undersea Warfare Development Center in the development of future lightweight torpedoes. He has accumulated over 2,100 flight hours in the MH-60R with over 500 small-deck day and night landings.
CDR Cohee earned his Master of Science degree with honors from the Johns Hopkins University in Space Systems Engineering with a focus in Engineering Management in 2018. He has most recently completed an in-resident master’s program at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where he received a Master of Arts degree with distinction in Defense and Strategic Studies, including a Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Emerging Military Technology. His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and multiple unit and service medals.
CDR Cohee recently moved back to San Diego, CA where he enjoys cooking, home improvement.
