Cmdr. Scott Maloney is a native of Boston, Massachusetts and a 2001 graduate of Marquette University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. In 2008, he completed a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of San Diego.
At sea, he served as the Damage Control Assistant onboard USS Curtis (FFG 38); Combat Information Center Officer, Anti-Terrorism Officer and the Electronics Material Officer onboard the USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52); Chief Engineer onboard USS Decatur (DDG 73); OPS/N3 for Commander, Destroyer Squadron One deployed with Carrier Strike Group One. Prior to taking command, he served as Executive Officer onboard USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112).
Ashore, he served as Gas Turbine Inspector at Afloat Training Group Pacific in San Diego; Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines; Deputy Director of Sailing at the United States Naval Academy; Ballistic Missile Defense Requirements Officer at OPNAV N96; N3 Assistant at Commander Naval Surface Force Pacific.
Maloney’s military decorations include a Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), and the Navy Achievement Medal (four awards).
