Commander Johnath Stinnette, a native of Newport News, VA was commissioned via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at Virginia Tech where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2006.
CDR Stinnette’s sea assignments include Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer, as well as Damage Control Assistant in USS RAMAGE (DDG 61), Chief Engineer in USS STERETT (DDG 104), and Operations Officer (N3) for Amphibious Squadron FIVE embarked in USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8). He has completed four deployments to the Mediterranean, Western Pacific/Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf.
Ashore, CDR Stinnette served as a Naval Science Instructor at the Virginia Military Institute Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps. While at VMI he earned his Master of Science in Project Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Following his at sea department head tours, he served as Battle Watch Captain, Senior Watch Officer and Fleet Command Center Director in Bahrain while assigned to the Staff of Commander, FIFTH FLEET. In 2019, he completed the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor course before reporting to the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center as a lead planner for Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training.
Commander Stinnette’s personal awards include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards) and various campaign and unit awards.
