231126-N-IW069-1072 AT SEA (Nov. 26, 2023) Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100), Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104), Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Murasame-class destroyer JS Kirisame (DD 104), and Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) Sejong the Great-class guided-missile destroyer Sejong the Great (DDG-991) sail together during a trilateral maritime exercise. The exercise provided the JMSDF, ROKN and U.S. Navy an opportunity to sail together, conduct enhanced planning and advanced maritime communication operations to bolster their warfighting readiness and deterrence capabilities. Vinson, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group ONE, is deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific. Brendan McLane, Special Assistant to Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, conducts a test leadership assessment board as part of the Navy’s Leadership Assessment Program(NLAP). NLAP is a professional development initiative being tested by the Naval Surface Force as is part of the (LAP-S) pilot. The goal of LAP-S is to enhance and augment the existing command qualification processes across the Surface Force. LAP-S unlocks a more complete and science-informed methodology in coaching leaders to ensure the best and most qualified leaders are developed for command. GULF OF OMAN (Nov. 9, 2023) A FlexRotor unmanned aerial vehicle hovers over the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) during UAV operations in the Gulf of Oman, Nov. 9. USS Stethem is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to help ensure maritime security and stability in the Middle East region.

SAN DIEGO (Nov. 9, 2023) The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) sails toward Naval Base San Diego following a change of homeport from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The Chung-Hoon, assigned to U.S. 3rd Fleet, recently completed a deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations and has been relocated to San Diego to complete a mid-life modernization. An integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific and provides the realistic, relevant training necessary to execute the U.S. Navy's role across the full spectrum of military operations – from combat operations to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
