Ship Crest meaning

Shield- Dark blue and gold are the colors traditionally associated with the Navy, represents the sea and excellence.

The dark blue background alludes to the seven seas and the theater of operations of the USS Fort Worth.

Black implies forcefulness.

The chevron suggests the prow of the ship.

The trident represents maritime authority and modern technology.

The chevron and chevronnel denote the multi-crew concept for the Littoral Combat Ship Class and of the USS Fort Worth. It also illustrates the ship's ability to reconfigure through mission modules, designed to defeat the growing coastal threat, providing access and dominance, which can sail in any waters worldwide.

The green signifies the ship's control of its littoral missions.


Ship’s Namesake
USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) is named after the city of Fort Worth, Texas. The City is named after William Jenkins Worth, a United States Army Major General. The city of Fort Worth is the Fifth Largest city in Texas. Fort Worth started as a humbled cattle town and trade post at its founding, the spirt of which is very much part of the culture city today, and is captured in the ships motto. 

Ship history

The USS Fort Worth's construction started in 2010 in Marinette, Wisconsin. The ship commissioned on September 22, 2012 in Galveston Texas. The USS Fort Worth went on to be a test ship for the LCS class out of San Diego and Singapore. The Ship is currently homeported in San Diego, California.
